Zheng Zhi ( Chinese: 郑智; born 20 October 1980) is a retired Chinese footballer who played as a midfielder. He was the captain of the China national team and had been playing for the team since 1998. He has been named one of the top 10 Asian players by FIFA in 2004, 2011 and 2012.

Zheng Zhi is widely regarded as one of the greatest Chinese footballers of all time. He was known for his exceptional leadership skills and playing ability. As captain, he led China to numerous titles, including two East Asian Cup championships, two Asian Games gold medals, and a bronze medal at the 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup.

Zheng Zhi''s international career spanned over 15 years, earning him 137 caps for China. He played his final game in August 2016, making him one of the most capped players in Chinese football history. During his playing career, he represented several clubs, including Shanghai Shenhua, Inter Milan and Guangzhou Evergrande.

Zheng Zhi was also involved in promoting football among children through the China Football Association''s ''Football for Hope'' programme. He continued to be an ambassador for Chinese football after his retirement from playing. In 2018, he took on a role as an assistant coach with the China national team under Gao Hongbo, before being appointed as head coach of the Shenzhen F.C., helping them earn promotion to the top tier.

Zheng Zhi is married and has two daughters and one son. His older brother, Fan Zhiyi, was also a professional footballer who played for the China national team.
